The Self-Driven Child

In case you missed the Gunn/Paly PTSA Parent Ed event on May 12th with authors of The Self Driven Child: The Science and Sense of Giving Your Kids More Control Over Their Lives, it’s not too late to watch the video or read their tip sheet below!

William Stixrud, PhD, is a clinical neuropsychologist and faculty member at George Washington School of Medicine, who speaks on the adolescent brain, sleep deprivation and meditation. Ned Johnson, is the founder of a tutoring service in Washington DC and shares his experience working with teens on motivation, study skills, anxiety and the parent-teen relationship. During the talk, both authors provided unique perspectives on their deeply researched book about helping parents understand better how to support their children and the brain science behind it. They also discussed tips on how to lessen the stress-induced forces that undermine childhood today.
