What is the Senior Picnic?
On Tuesday, May 31, graduating seniors will be bused to Santa Cruz Beach. All graduating students are welcome and encouraged to attend this long-standing Gunn High School field trip!

While at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, students will have unlimited access to rides and/or can spend the day on the beach and/or play the Boardwalk games.

Lunch will be available between 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm and is included in the ticket price.

This event is chaperoned by Gunn teachers with the PTSA providing bussing and logistical support.

When does the Senior Picnic start and end?
Students will depart on buses from Gunn immediately following the graduation rehearsal (around 10:00 am) and will return to Gunn at approximately 4:30 pm.

Check -in will be at the Bridgeway.  All students will participate in a check in process at Gunn High School before boarding the bus to depart to Santa Cruz.  Please bring:

  1. Photo ID
  2. There are no paper ‘tickets’ — students who registered AND paid will be “on the Master List” and should have received a link to sign-up for a bus by color (otherwise they will be assigned randomly.) 
  3. Students’ check-in by color and get a corresponding wristband to board buses. 
  4. Students requiring ANY medication (over the counter or prescription), please check-in first at the Medical/Information table. Except for EpiPens and Inhalers, all other medicine will be collected by a licensed medical volunteer. Chaperones will hold on to the med bags during the bus ride, and they will be stored centrally in a larger medical bag/bin at the venue. Personal feminine products are also not allowed and will be provided if needed.

What to bring:

  • Layered clothing (may be hot or chilly)
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Empty water bottle
  • Cell Phone
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, sunhat
  • Beach towel
  • Backpack/small bag
  • Spending money if desired

Can students leave the Picnic early?
No.

How are bus seats for the Picnic and Grad Night assigned?
Students will sign-up for buses approximately one week prior to the event. More information and the process to sign-up will be shared with all those who’ve signed up closer to the event.

Can students bring guests to either event?
No. This event is for Gunn graduating seniors only.

What happens if it rains on the day of the picnic?
The picnic will happen rain or shine.

What is the Grad Night Party?
Following the graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 1, students are transported to a secret outdoor location for a party. There will be food, games, music and other activities for the students so they can celebrate this significant milestone together. All graduating students are welcome and encouraged to attend!

When does the Grad Night Party start and end?
Students will check-in to the Bow Gym immediately following the ceremony (which ends at approximately 7:00 pm).

Please bring:

  1. Photo ID.

Buses will depart from Gunn around 9:00 pm. Students will be brought back to Gunn between 3:30 am and 4:00 am. Students are expected to arrange their own travel from Gunn to home at that time, as there are no post-party events planned.

Prior to checking in at the gym, students are encouraged to change out of their graduation clothes into something suitable for a casual night of socializing, eating, games, dancing, and hanging out. Students should plan to hand off their diploma, grad outfit after changing, yearbook, and any other items they won’t need at the party, to their parents/guardians to take home for them.

Will there be food available at the Party?
Light snacks will be served in the gym prior to departure and heartier fare will be available at the venue throughout the night. Both are included in the ticket price.

What is the process to leave early?
There will be an opportunity for students to be picked up from the Grad Night Party venue between 12:00 am – 12:30 am on June 2nd. Students will be released only to an individual 18 years and older only and that person must be named at the time of ticket purchase. The location will be emailed to the persons picking up their student the evening of graduation. The ID of the driver will be checked at Grad Night prior to the student being released.

Can students leave the Grad Night Party early?
Yes, if arranged in advance and only within the time window of 12:00 pm – 12:30 am. Indicate your desire for early pick-up at the time of registration.

What can students bring to the Grad Night Party?
Cell phones, phone chargers, a sweater/coat, and prescription glasses as needed are permitted. All other items must be checked in with the chaperones and will be returned to the student at the end of the night.

Epi-pens, inhalers, insulin delivery devices, and approved medications are permitted.

Please note, menstrual products will be provided by the school at the venue for those that need them.

Vaping, drugs, alcohol, and tobacco are NOT allowed. Students who appear to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will not be allowed to board the bus and their payment will not be refunded. All alcohol, tobacco, and drugs will be confiscated. If a student is discovered to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while at the picnic or the party, their parents/guardians will be called to come to pick them up and their payment will not be refunded.

How are bus seats assigned?
Students will sign-up for buses approximately two weeks prior to the event. More information and the process to sign-up will be shared with all those who’ve signed up closer to the event.

What is the cost to participate in both the Senior Picnic and the Grad Night Party?

Early Bird Picnic only: $85
Early Bird Grad Night Party only: $190
Early Bird Both Picnic and Grad Night Party: $275
Early Bird pricing ends March 25, 2022

Regular Pricing Picnic only: $100
Regular Pricing Grad Night Party only: $200
Regular Pricing Both Picnic and Grad Night Party: $300

All ticket sales end on April 15, 2022
All tickets are non-refundable once purchased

Are scholarships available for students that need them?
Yes. Full or partial scholarships are available for both events. Scholarship applicants must contact their Gunn Guidance Counselor to apply. No student will be denied participation for financial reasons.

Please register for the event here and indicate that you will be requesting a scholarship from your counselor. It is your responsibility to request the scholarship.

How are tickets purchased?

If you cannot complete your purchase online, please email gunn.seniorparty@gmail.com and we will work with you.

Early Bird pricing is in effect until March 25, 2022.
