Brainstorm Book Club: Continuing the Conversation about the Teenage Brain

**Please note: Our next meeting will be Wednesday, February 8th (7-8:30 pm). Unfortunately, the Feb. 1st and Feb. 15th meetings had to be cancelled and rescheduled due to conflicting school events.

Please join us to continue the conversation about Dr. Dan Siegel’s book “Brainstorm: The Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain.” Each week we will discuss ideas from his book and how to apply them to our own parenting. We will also try out some of Dr. Siegel’s “Mindsight tools.” The conversation will be led by Kirsten Daehler (educator/ Gunn parent) and Maria Daehler (child psychiatrist/Gunn parent). You are welcome to attend even if you haven’t read the book. We will have a few copies of the book for purchase ($18.50, cash or check only). Please contact Kirsten Daehler,  krdaehler@gmail.com, if you have any questions.

Gunn PTSA – Calling for Nominating Committee Members

The Gunn PTSA is seeking volunteers to serve on the Nominating Committee to fill PTSA volunteer positions for the 2017-2018 school year.  This is a great opportunity to connect with Gunn parents while getting involved with the PTSA for a limited amount of time.  The Committee’s functions include:

  • Recruiting candidates for the elected officers of the executive board
  • Assisting the current executive board to fill the chair positions of other committees
  • Serving from mid-January to the annual election, although the work is mostly complete by March
  • Working about 2 hours per week, mostly by email and phone

If you are interested in joining the Committee or have questions, please contact Catherine Wytmar at parliamentarian@gunnpta.org
