The annual Gunn High School Turkey Feast is upon us, and we need your help to make this event a success. Every year we feed over 1600 students, faculty and staff a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. We still need turkeys, pies and vegetarian options. Additional hands are needed for food prep and clean up. Sign up here. Ask your student about this event and they will tell you it’s one of their favorites! No time to cook? Please consider making a monetary donation to help cover the costs of mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy. Make checks payable to “Gunn High School” and write “2017 Turkey Feast” in the memo. Drop-off at the Main Office or mail them to Donna Pioppi, 3920 El Cerrito Road, Palo Alto, CA 94306 or donate online to PTSA’s Paypal address: firstname.lastname@example.org put “2017 Turkey Feast” in the memo field.
What Gunn Events are Planned and Why Should You Care?
Homecoming is a long-standing tradition at many American high schools and colleges. It is a celebration of the school community and is a chance for current students to join with returning alumni and the rest of the school community to develop “school spirit” and camaraderie.
Calling All Parent Volunteers – It’s time for the annual PTSA Homecoming BBQ for Gunn students and parents before Night Rally!
We need parent volunteers to help grill, assist with preparation, set-up and serving of the meal. We are also requesting parents to donate pans of brownies, platters of tomatoes, lettuce and onions prepared and delivered to the event by 5:00pm.
If you are available to volunteer the evening of the event, please sign up at here.
Help needed: Volunteer to translate the Gunn Connection and other Gunn /PTSA Information (Bilingual English/Chinese – work from home! )
If you’re thinking of utilizing bi-lingual language capabilities, improving your language skills and/or earning community service hours, help support the Gunn community in a virtual and flexible manner, consider joining the Gunn Translation Team.
Johns Hopkins University identifies “Volunteering” as one of the essential ways a parent can contribute to a student’s success at school. Gunn High School and the Gunn PTSA have many volunteer opportunities, some that bring parents on campus to serve students directly, and some working with other parents on school-related projects – all of which are designed to support students and the school. Being on campus is especially beneficial for parents so you can experience the Gunn “ecosystem” yourself!
Check out all the GUNN PTSA volunteer positions available. Key positions we are looking to fill: Parent Ed co-chairs; Co-moderators of the Spanish and Korean Parent Networks; International Potluck co-chairs; Student Appreciation and Staff Appreciation event co-chairs; and helpers at all our big food events!
