What is “Homecoming”?

What Gunn Events are Planned and Why Should You Care?

Homecoming is a long-standing tradition at many American high schools and colleges. It is a celebration of the school community and is a chance for current students to join with returning alumni and the rest of the school community to develop “school spirit” and camaraderie.

Experience Gunn High School for Yourself: VOLUNTEER!

Johns Hopkins University identifies “Volunteering” as one of the essential ways a parent can contribute to a student’s success at school. Gunn High School and the Gunn PTSA have many volunteer opportunities, some that bring parents on campus to serve students directly, and some working with other parents on school-related projects – all of which are designed to support students and the school. Being on campus is especially beneficial for parents so you can experience the Gunn “ecosystem” yourself!

Check out all the GUNN PTSA volunteer positions available. Key positions we are looking to fill: Parent Ed co-chairs; Co-moderators of the Spanish and Korean Parent Networks;  International Potluck co-chairs; Student Appreciation and Staff Appreciation event co-chairs; and helpers at all our big food events!

End of Year Volunteer Help Needed!

It takes a village of volunteers to look after all our kids. Please consider being generous with your time these last weeks of school.

ALL SCHOOL BBQ:

On Friday, May 26th, 81 parent volunteers are needed for the all-school BBQ luncheon. The PTSA will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, salad, chips and ice water free to every student and staffer at Gunn to help celebrate the end of the year. This is always a very joyous event for all. Please bring friends to help.

We need help with set-up, grilling, serving  or (everyone’s favorite) clean up. Please sign up on: www.tinyurl.com/GunnSpringBBQ2017

SNACKS DURING FINALS TESTING:

On Tuesday, May 30 and Wednesday, May 31st, 59 parent volunteers are needed to serve snacks to students at brunch and lunch during Finals Testing. The PTSA will provide fruits, popcorn and bagels with cream cheese. If you have a friend, please bring him or her, or both.

You may elicit smiles from stressed students by helping set up, spreading cream cheese, serving or cleaning up. Please sign up on: www.tinyurl.com/GunnSpringFinals2017

BACK TO SCHOOL PACKET STUFFING:

Gunn Needs Many Hands!  We’re looking for parent volunteers to help stuff flyers into the Back To School packets which will be sent to families in the fall. If you can spare a few hours on June 5, 6, or 7, please sign up at the below link – and feel free to sign up for as many sessions as you’d like! http://signup.com/go/lfBHMOK
